Shoreview man charged with beating his father A Shoreview man is accused of beating his 79-year-old father in a drunken rage. Michael Krizak, 53, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with felony domestic assault and terroristic threats in connection with the assault Monday evening.

According to the complaint, a sheriff's deputy went to Krizak's home in the 4400 block of Churchill Street shortly before 8 p.m. He learned the defendant had punched his father in the face and shoved him to the floor, repeatedly yelling, "I am gonna kill you!"

The father told the deputy that he had hit his son in the head with his cane to prevent him from hitting him again. The defendant was found in a bedroom, "highly intoxicated" and bleeding from a head wound, the complaint said.

Krizak was convicted of domestic assault against his father in 2005 and of violating a no-contact order in 2005 and 2007.

Man arrested after Inver Grove Heights standoff Police evacuated an Inver Grove Heights neighborhood Thursday morning and later arrested a man who had barricaded himself in a house after an alleged domestic assault.

Joseph W. Kuehn, 24, is being held at the Dakota County jail on a charge of fifth-degree domestic assault.

Police were called to the 6800 block of Craig Court about 5:45 a.m. An officer led a 24-year-old woman -- the alleged victim -- out of the house. Police set up a perimeter around the house and, when the suspect did not respond to phone calls, a SWAT team was called. Negotiators tossed a phone through a bedroom window, at which point an officer spotted Kuehn lying on a bed and called out to him. They spoke, and Kuehn was taken into custody. Nobody was hurt.

Police pursue suspect in clergy theft St. Paul police have identified a suspect in the burglary of Archbishop John Nienstedt's residence last summer.

Crosses, rings and a 75-pound safe were stolen in the early morning hours of June 28 from Nienstedt's residence on Summit Avenue near the Cathedral of St. Paul. Nienstedt was in Rome at the time. A few days after the burglary was reported, an official from the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis found a box of crosses and rings that were believed to have been stolen during the burglary.

Authorities are trying to track down a 25-year-old man for questioning in the burglary, but they couldn't say Thursday night why they believe the man is involved in the case.

Anyone who has information about the suspect or burglary is asked to call the St. Paul Police Western District Burglary detectives at 651-266-5632.
