Authorities have released the identity of a 25-year-old Brooklyn Park man found shot dead in north Minneapolis early Tuesday.

Cordell Quinton Dalton was discovered about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Sheridan and 8th Avenues N., according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday. He died from a gun shot wound.

As of Wednesay afternoon, no arrests had been made in the shooting.

Dalton was killed while he was being robbed, said local peace activist KG Wilson, who was one of Dalton's cousins. Wilson said that Dalton was running away when he was fatally shot.

Though Wilson said he was hurt and angry, he was trying to stay calm for his family. Wilson said he is planning a vigil for his cousin sometime this week.

"I can't save everybody. I can't save all of my family," Wilson said Wednesday evening. "But somebody will listen to me and I'll be able to save them."

A 22-year-old man told police that he was shot in the hand about the same time while he was near the same intersection, according to police records.
