A pickup truck driver from the Twin Cities hit a teenager's Amish buggy in southern Minnesota and killed the boy, authorities said Wednesday.

The rear-end collision occurred about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday roughly 4 miles southeast of Preston in Fillmore County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Joseph A. Perry, 39, of Hastings, was driving his pickup west on County Road 12 near Hwy. 52 and hit the buggy from behind, the Sheriff's Office said.

The buggy's lone occupant, 15-year-old Henry J. Hershberger, of nearby Harmony, was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.
