Sherels, Sendejo in starting lineup

Sherels and Sendejo get starts because of injuries in secondary

September 29, 2013 at 4:00PM

LONDON -- Welcome to Wembley Stadium.

The Vikings and Steelers are on the field for early warmups. The Vikings just announced their inactives and there are no surprises.

Inactive are quarterback Christian Ponder, cornerback Chris Cook, safety Jamarca Sanford, tight end Rhett Ellison, offensive guard Jeff Baca, defensive end George Johnson and defensive tackle Chase Baker.

Marcus Sherels will start in place of Cook at right corner. Andrew Sendejo will start for Sanford at strong safety.

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has resisted moving rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes to right cornerback. Frazier wants to keep Rhodes on the left side in the nickel package, which means Sherels gets the start.

Safety Mistral Raymond is making his season debut with Sanford sideline because of a hamstring injury. Rookie linebacker Gerald Hodges will make his NFL debut after being inactive the first three games.
