With their "Vol. 2" album set to release on March 23, She & Him -- the much-adored collaboration between Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward -- will return to First Avenue on June 5. Stay tuned for ticket info. They're not the only high-profile boy/girl act coming to town, either. Jakob Dylan has a new group with alt-country/indie-rock queen Neko Case, and they're now booked into the Fitzgerald Theater on April 27. Tickets to that one ($30-$32) go on sale Friday at noon.
The Dylan/Case collaboration is based on Dylan's new album, "Women and Country" (out April 6), which was produced by T-Bone Burnett and apparently shares a kindred sonic spirit with the Burnett-produced Robert Plant and Alison Krauss mega-hit disc. Case's regular vocal partner, Kelly Hogan, is also on the album and tour. As for the She & Him record, it pretty tastefully rehashes the vintage twang and orchestral pop of "Vol. 1" and includes a gorgeous version of Big Star's "Ridin' In My Car." A couple tracks are posted here. Both these co-ed ensembles will be previewing their new stuff at the South by Southwest Music Conference next week.
