My daughter, Lauren Hanson of Plymouth, has shot a number of deer over the years, but this year, on opening morning, she got her biggest yet, an 11-point buck. Lauren has been hunting since she completed her gun safety class when she was 12. She hunts near Hinckley as part of a six-family group that has gathered during deer season for more than 40 years. There are wolves in that area, and bears, as well as deer. The big buck she shot this year appeared on opening morning about 60 yards from Lauren’s stand. She said, ‘All I saw was antlers. I was shocked!’ She shoots a .270 Winchester, and is having a head and shoulder mount done of the deer.
