The start of the Sam Bradford era in Minnesota will have to wait a week.
As my colleague Mark Craig reported hours after the Bradford trade, the Vikings will start 36-year-old backup Shaun Hill in today's season opener against the Titans. The team officially confirmed this a few minutes ago.
Bradford is active, though, if something happens to Hill this afternoon. And, given the wild history of this franchise, Bradford better be ready to go in.
In non-quarterback news, cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who this morning was downgraded to questionable due to a knee injury, will not play. That means both Trae Waynes and Terence Newman will start at corner. Rhodes was not listed on the injury report at all this week, so his injury is presumably new.
Andrew Sendejo, meanwhile, will start next to Harrison Smith at safety.
Wide receiver Charles Johnson and running back Jerick McKinnon, who were listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, are active in Nashville.
Interestingly, wide receiver Jarius Wright, who led the Vikings in catches in 2014 and 2015 combined, is inactive and presumably a healthy scratch. Also inactive are offensive linemen Nick Easton and Jeremiah Sirles, tight end MyCole Pruitt, and linebackers Kentrell Brothers and Edmond Robinson.
