Shakopee's volleyball team pushed its record to 30-0 with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) over Centennial this morning in a Class 3A state volleyball match. Behind the curtain on Court 2, Andover and Stillwater played in quite the competitive match with the Ponies prevailing 3-1. In all four games, each team scored into the 20s.

Top-ranked and top-seeded Shakopee rolled through the first two games over Centennial (24-6), but then played from behind most of the third game before tying it 20-20 then taking over. Two-time Metro Player of the Year Ashley Wittman had 21 kills and 13 digs.

As reporters waited to talk with Sabers coach Matt Busch in the hallways of Xcel Energy Center, the crowd roars from the second 3A match were evident - and for good reason.

In a true see-saw battle, No. 4 seed Stillwater ultimately won 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22. Emily McDonough had 18 kills and 17 digs for the Ponies (27-4). For Andover (23-8) Karlie Hauer had 17 kills.

The 11am matches are just getting underway. Stay tuned ...
