Shakopee mother dies in car crash; son survives

A 26-year-old Shakopee woman died Wednesday after her car ran off the road and crashed into a tree. Her 4-year-old son survived the crash.

Trachanda Hamilton was taking a ramp onto County Road 21 in Scott County when she lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway and hit a tree, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She died a little before 5 p.m.

She was wearing a seat belt, and her airbag deployed.

Her son Elijah suffered minor injuries.
