Shakopee crash kills 1; Eagan crash victim identified as St. Paul man

A 19-year-old man died Friday when his car crossed the median on Hwy. 169 in Shakopee and hit two other vehicles, the State Patrol said.

The accident happened off Hwy. 169 north of Marystown Road at 8:30 p.m. when a car driven by Alexander Reeves, 19, of Mapleton, Minn., crossed the median and hit others. Reeves was killed.

The driver of one of the other cars involved and his passenger weren't injured. The driver of the second vehicle also wasn't injured, but two passengers suffered noncritical injuries.

Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man killed early Friday after losing control of his minivan, going airborne and landing upside down in a holding pond in Eagan was identified as Thomas Heinz Iwen, 58, of St. Paul.

The crash, which no one witnessed, was reported at 7:33 a.m. and happened at Clubview Drive near Lexington Avenue, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office said.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
