Severe weather will target areas from southern Illinois into southern Virginiaand the Carolinas on Sunday and Sunday night.These storms will be caused by a weak area of low pressure moving over theregion and a frontal boundary associated with it. The low pressure will becentered over North Carolina Sunday afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms will not be widespread; however, they will be most numerousduring the afternoon and evening hours.

The main threats from these storms will be heavy downpours which can causelocal flash flooding, damaging wind gusts over 50 mph and large hail.

The threat for severe weather will then diminish overnight as the effects ofdaytime heating are lost.
