Several hurt when deck collapses in Forest Lake

August 20, 2012 at 2:07AM

A happy family moment turned harrowing Saturday night in Forest Lake when the deck of a home collapsed, sending 27 people gathered for a group photo tumbling to the ground.

Several people were taken to local hospitals, most with minor injuries, Forest Lake police Sgt. Bruce Peterson said. One person with more serious injuries was transported to a hospital via helicopter.

The deck collapse happened at a home in the 18600 block of Harrow Avenue N. just before 8 p.m. According to Peterson, family members had arranged themselves for a photo when "a portion of the deck separated itself from the house and collapsed to the ground."

A family member said Sunday that three people remained hospitalized with noncritical injuries.
