A construction site collapse Friday morning at a church in Nisswa, Minn., injured several people, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 7:15 a.m. at Timberwood Church, where an addition is under construction, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

A work crew was placing trusses when something gave way, leading to the collapse, said Sheriff's Lt. Joe Meyer.

Among those injured, three were sent to a Brainerd hospital for treatment, Meyer added.

The church, located along Hwy. 371 and northeast of Gull Lake, is in the process of adding a 740-seat worship center, meeting space, offices, storage and parking, according to its website.

Construction began July 1 and was scheduled to be complete by early next spring, the website added.
