A few more thoughts about Elton John at the Xcel Energy Center Friday:

  • He performed under an arena-sized chandelier, which kept changing shapes and colors.
    • He sipped ice water between songs, not the Diet Coke of old. And at least once, he chomped on ice.
      • To show you how much Elton was on autopilot (as my review discussed), when he mentioned his first U.S. tour in September 1970, he didn't talk about playing at the Guthrie Theater (which he has recalled at previous Twin Cities shows). Or wearing white overalls that night.

Here is Elton's set list from Friday:

Funeral for a Friend> Love Lies Bleeding/ Bennie and the Jets/ Candle in the Wind/ Grey Seal/ Levon/ Tiny Dancer/ Holiday Inn/ Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters/ Believe/ Philadelphia Freedom/ Goodbye Yellow Brick Road/ Rocket Man/ Hey Ahab/ I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues/ The One/ Oceans Away/ Someone Saved My Life Tonight/ Sad Songs/ All the Girls Love Alice/ Home Again/ Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me/ I'm Still Standing/ The Bitch Is Back/ Your Sister Can't Twist/ Saturday's Alright for Fighting ENCORE Your Song/ Crocodile Rock

The man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker and wounding another crawled to officers in surrender Sunday after they located him in the woods near his home, ending a massive, nearly two-day search that put the entire state on edge.
