Anna Hurd, the 16-year-old North St. Paul girl who was found stabbed to death in a Maplewood park over the weekend, was laid to rest Thursday.
On Thursday afternoon, friends and family gathered at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North St. Paul for a private service.
The church is across the street from North High School, the school that Hurd once attended. As they were let out of school Thursday, groups of students walked across the street with bookbags in tow to attend the services.
Hurd's body was found early Saturday on a path in Hillside Park, near McKnight Road and Ripley Avenue, about five blocks from her home.
As of Thursday, there had been no arrests, according to acting Maplewood Police Chief Dave Kvam.
To help the Hurd family, the Slider Squad food truck will be parked Friday at the Rainbow Foods grocery store at 2501 White Bear Av. in Maplewood from noon to 6 p.m. Money raised will go to help with Hurd's burial expenses.
