TWINS UPDATE

The Twins rolled into the Windy City winners of four of their past five games. They are 5-2 against the White Sox this season, but they dropped two of three at U.S. Cellular Field during the first week of the season. ... With the Twins back in American League play — and after going scoreless for 11 innings on Wednesday — look for Brian Dozier, pictured, to return to the top of the batting order with Torii Hunter batting second. ... The Twins pounded Sale for eight earned runs over three innings on April 30, and Dozier homered. ... Joe Mauer, batting .338 against lefthanders this season, has a career average of .296 hitter against Sale and .391 against Quintana with two homers.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

Before losing on Tuesday and Wednesday, the White Sox had won six straight games. But they still had bouts of the sloppiness they showed while getting swept by the Twins in a four-game series at Target Field at the beginning of the month. ... Jose Abreu is batting .462 against Hughes, and Melky Cabrera (.417) isn't far behind. ... Avisail Garcia is 12-for-24 with three RBI against the Twins this season. ... Samardzija held Oakland to three runs over eight innings on Sunday in his most recent outing. He has two starts of at least eight innings this season. ... On Saturday, the White Sox will retire Paul Konerko's uniform number in a pregame ceremony that's expected to draw a near-capacity crowd.
