TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are waiting to see whether lefthander Tommy Milone can recover from a sore neck and start Sunday. If not, then Anthony Swarzak is the favorite to make his third spot start of the season and second in a row. … With Glen Perkins out because of arm problems, Jared Burton is expected to get the first crack at closing games during the final three series of the season. But Michael Tonkin and Lester Oliveros also could get shots. Burton also served as the closer in place of ailing Perkins on Wednesday night and three games earlier this month. … Casey Fien should be available Friday after getting Tuesday and Wednesday off, plus Thursday's scheduled off day. … Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia should be in the lineup after missing two games because of a sore back.

INDIANS UPDATE

Cleveland entered Thursday on the outer edges of the playoff race. The Indians had a big chance to step back in the middle of the race last weekend but were swept in a three-game series at Detroit. … The Twins are facing the same three pitchers they saw in Cleveland last week when they dropped two of three games. … Outfielder Ryan Raburn's season is over. He injured his left knee last weekend and will need surgery on the meniscus. … Second baseman Jason Kipnis has been trying to be productive while battling a sore oblique muscle, but now the 2013 All-Star has tired legs, too. His right leg was wrapped from ankle to hip on Monday. When asked what was wrong, he replied: "There's nothing wrong. It's just late September."
