Deadly but clean

A serial killer's victims take the spotlight in Freshwater Theatre's "The Drowning Girls." The chilling drama is based on the true story of George Joseph Smith, who killed three wives in their bathtubs and stole their savings. Technically, Smith was only married to the first wife since the Englishman was a seven-time bigamist, but "The Drowning Girls" isn't about him. It puts three women at center stage, giving them a chance to tell the stories their "husband" attempted to erase. 7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 3 p.m. Sun., 7:30 p.m. Mon. Ends April 14, Crane Theatre, 2303 NE. Kennedy St., Mpls., $18-$20, 612-816-8479 or freshwatertheatre.com.
