March 14, 2013 at 6:30PM

A 16-year-old boy who was shot to death Tuesday in south Minneapolis was identified Wednesday as Zedric Ferguson.

He was found dead about 9:50 p.m. in an alley behind the Wendy's restaurant at 221 W. Lake St. in the Lyndale neighborhood. Police found more than a dozen bullet casings at the scene.

The shooting wasn't random, Lt. Mike Carlson said. A police spokesman said that he didn't know a motive. Nobody had been arrested Wednesday evening.

Ferguson, of Minneapolis, was shot in the chest, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Several witnesses said they heard at least 10 shots during an apparent exchange between passengers in a sport-utility vehicle and at least four people on bicycles near the restaurant.
