A 23-year-old North Branch man will spend the next 15 years in prison following a second-degree murder conviction for shaking his infant son in November 2006.

Jason James Nordin was sentenced by Judge John McBride following his conviction in April of first-degree assault and second-degree unintentional murder in the death of 4-month-old Joshua Nordin. A seven-year sentence for the assault charge will run concurrently with the murder sentence.

Nordin was charged in November for shaking the boy, who was seriously injured at the time and taken off life support months later.

The Minnesota attorney general's office prosecuted the case, and Chisago County Attorney Janet Reiter said she was pleased with the outcome.
