State Sen. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, finally has been officially appointed to serve on legislative committees in the Minnesota Senate.

Abeler, who was elected to the Minnesota Senate in a special election last month, had not been appointed to any committees even though the legislative session started last week.

The delay in Abeler being appointment to committees had been because of a dispute between Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, and Senate Minority David Hann, R-Eden Prairie, over the reorganization of legislative committees.

Hann announced during today's legislative session that an agreement had been reached with Bakk which allowed Abeler to receive his committee assignments.
