Semi hits family in pickup near Willmar; mother killed, husband, 2 kids hurt

A semitrailer truck collided near Willmar with a pickup carrying a family of four, killing a mother and injuring her husband and two young children, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred about 6:10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Hwys. 7 and 71, south of Willmar, according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Lisa A. Heidecker, 46, of Lake Lillian, Minn., the patrol said. Surviving with noncritical injuries were her 48-year-old husband, James L. Heidecker, who was driving, and 10-year-old Mitchell and 5-year-old Marissa.

The semi was heading east on Hwy. 7, when it collided with the pickup at Hwy. 71. The semi driver, George E. Sutton, 33, of Fort Worth, Texas, also suffered noncritical injuries.
