You may have a tee time during the 3M Championship. Of course, you'll have to leave your clubs at home.

For a second year, organizers of the Champions Tour golf tournament are offering free admission for spectators during the Aug. 2-8 event at Tournament Player's Club in Blaine. The competition rounds are Aug. 6-8.

"Last year, it was in response to economic difficulties, but we had such a great turnout and such a positive response from sponsors," said Tournament Director Jen Hines. "Making spectators free seemed to allow more families to come out and enjoy it."

Once again, each day's golf will be accompanied by activities, including a family fun zone and a golf expo. Parking will be available at remote locations, with shuttles to the course.

Over the three days of championship play, organizers expect about 130,000 spectators to see Tom Lehman, Paul Azinger and others. The Greats of Golf Challenge, a three-person team format played on Saturday and Sunday, will include familiar names including Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez and Lee Trevino.

"Golfers like to be in front of big crowds, and Minnesota also tends to deliver that," Hines said. "We're glad to give something back to the community that supported us."
