The Carver County Sheriff's office has beefed up security at the courthouse in Chaska following a contentious dispute in family court.

Chief Deputy Blair Anderson on Friday declined to provide details about the added security, but confirmed reports that his office is aware of the case.

"We take courthouse security very seriously all the time, and there are certain circumstances that get our attention and raise our awareness and we allocate some extra resources in and around the courthouse," he said. "Beyond that I cannot comment."

The case involves a child custody case heard by District Judge Richard Perkins.

It involves Lea Banken, who has made comments on a blog called "Carver County Corruption" that the judge has found to be "highly prejudicial and inflammatory."

Perkins issued an order that Banken remove items on her blog that were harassing toward her ex-husband.

Banken ignored the order, contested it, and argued that the judge's ruling went too far.
