The second of two men has admitted to the armed robbery of a bank in Champlin that culminated in the getaway vehicle going up in flames in neighboring Brooklyn Park.
Boyd J. Morson II, 21, of Brooklyn Park, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Minneapolis to robbing the First Minnesota Bank, just off Elm Creek Parkway, west of Hwy. 169, of nearly $17,000.
His accomplice, Lawrence D. Williamson, 20, also of Brooklyn Park, pleaded guilty last week to the Oct. 26 holdup.
According to court records:
After ordering everyone in the bank to the floor, Williamson, with a handgun displayed, jumped a teller's counter while Morson made two employees help him collect cash from the safe. The two fled in an SUV.
Soon after, Brooklyn Park police found the vehicle on fire less than 4 miles from the bank. The suspects were arrested not far away in a car. PAUL WALSH
