Temperatures will soar far above average again on Monday in parts of WesternAustralia, raising the threat of wildfires.Northerly to northeasterly winds blowing around a strong area of high pressureover Western Australia will send high heat from the state's interior to some ofits western and southern coasts, including greater Perth, the capital city.
On Sunday, the temperature spiked to 43 degrees C (109 F) in Perth, or about 13degrees C (23 F) above average. At least one wildfire burned the area, but itwas contained by water-dropping aircraft.
With hot and dry weather prevailing again on Monday, the threat of wildfireswill remain high in the southwestern corner of the state.
Tuesday will also be hot in many areas, but a cold front will bring moreseasonable weather for the second half of the week.
