Hennepin County dive teams have recovered the body of a teenager who apparently drowned Saturday afternoon while swimming in Bloomington's Bush Lake.
Emergency workers spent hours searching for the victim after a 911 call came in around 3:30 p.m. reporting that an 18-year-old man had not surfaced from the water. His friends told police that they were swimming toward a dock about 100 feet from the beach when he began struggling, said Hennepin County sheriff's spokesman Edgar Linares.
Authorities cleared the busy beachfront and worked into the evening before locating the teen's body at nightfall.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the teen's identity after performing an autopsy.
