Search is on after train hits vehicle in Andover

September 28, 2011 at 5:39AM

Anoka County authorities were searching Tuesday night for a possible victim after a vehicle was hit by a train in Andover.

About 9:30 p.m., sheriff's deputies went to an accident at tracks crossing County Road 58. When they arrived, they found an unoccupied vehicle that had been hit by the train.

Radio scanner traffic initially reported possible blood on the vehicle's hood. Authorities later said it was transmission fluid.

An air ambulance landed in a nearby parking lot, standing by if needed. Police dogs from four departments were brought in to search; as of 11:15 p.m., nothing had been found.
