A 51-year-old man died while scuba diving in a western Minnesota lake northeast of Vergas, authorities said Monday.

James W. Reardon, of Pierz, was pulled from the bottom of Lake Seven late Saturday afternoon and declared dead at the scene by emergency responders, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

Reardon and a friend were scuba diving near the public access to the lake and Reardon was missing for about 20 minutes, the Sheriff's Office said.
