Byron Buxton (Age 20)

2014 season: Out because of a wrist injury that has limited the center fielder to five Class A games. Still expected to return this season.

Comment: "Everywhere Buxton went [in 2013], he stood out as the top talent on the field and a legitimate five-tool player. … The Twins are traditionally conservative in their developmental time lines, but Buxton has already put himself on an accelerated track to the major leagues.''

The skinny: He is the consensus No. 1 prospect in the minors. Could debut for the Twins in 2015

Miguel Sano (age 21)

2014: The third baseman will miss the entire season after underdoing Tommy John surgery on his right (throwing) elbow during spring training. Expected to be ready for spring training 2015.

The skinny: Was rated the top power hitter and No. 3 prospect overall by mlb.com in January. Should make his Twins debut sometime in 2015.
