New academy to host open house Feb. 12

Bloomington Career and College Academy, a new Bloomington School District program, invites parents and students to an open house from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at its campus, 8800 Queen Av. S, Suite 219.

The academy, a program for students in grades 10 to 12, offers courses and curriculum aligned with career paths that include health sciences, information technology, criminal justice and law enforcement, and building and construction. Its students will graduate from high school with training and credentials that equip them for college or the workforce. Some students may graduate with a career certification or credential; all paths include postsecondary education credits and job training.

Representatives of the program's education partners — Dunwoody College of Technology, Hennepin Technical College, Minneapolis Building and Construction Trades Council and Normandale Community College — will be present at the open house to provide information and answer questions.

Open enrollment is available to students who do not live in Bloomington. For more information, go to www.bloomingtonschools.info/bcca or call 952-681-6133.
