Defending champion Sammy Schmitz of Valleywood Golf Club shot a second-round 70, 2-under par, at Midland Hills Country Club to take a three-stroke lead in the MGA Mid-Amateur Championship.
Schmitz has a two-day total of 142. The trio of David Rehfeldt (StoneRidge GC), David Steingart (Edina CC) and first-round leader John Anderson (Bunker Hills GC) are tied for second at 145.
The final round will be played at Midland Hills on Wednesday.
