Scene + Heard: Derby Day at Canterbury Park

There are few spring traditions that have the flair of the Kentucky Derby. That’s why Canterbury Park in Shakopee kicked off its 2017 live racing season on Derby Day, with horse rides for the kids, mint juleps for the grown-ups and plenty of “The Run for the Roses” hats. Often described as the most exciting two minutes in sports, the 10-furlong race, the first leg of the Triple Crown, has been run since 1875. See more photos at startribune.com/style.
