What do you get when you combine three bands, a stage full of barbers and hundreds of volunteers? You get the Battle of the Bald, a head-shaving tournament.
Sponsored by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds for childhood cancer research, the event at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis featured volunteers who competed for the honor to have their heads shaved by raising money.
Started in 2000, Battle of the Bald events are held throughout the country with the motto “Brave a shave for kids with cancer.”
