When the Sea Life Aquarium re-opens at the Mall of America later this month it will have a new resident – Bubble Butt. Really. That's her name.
She's a a 100 pound green seat turtle who's shell was so badly damaged by a boat propeller that she can't submerge herself. She can only bob on the surface, according to a release sent out today by the aquarium. That means she can't dive for food or safety.
At aquarium a little human ingenuity will take of that problem. She's had weights applied to her shell to help her sink.Sorry, I can't provide a photo. The aquarium folks say she's being monitored right now before being introduced to the tank, so we'll have to wait.
Bubble is one of 10,000 sea creatures that will be on display at the aquarium when it opens. It may not be the real sea, but hey, it's as close as we'll get in Minnesota. .
