It's supposed to be a nice weekend, so I really should caulk all of those drafty windows. That's my problem - I know what I need to do to save energy (and money), but I can't say I always get around to it.
But if you're not sure how to improve your home's energy efficiency and reduce the gas and electricity you use, the new online resources that Xcel Energy announced on Friday may be worth a look.
The Minneapolis-based utility's blog is dedicated to renewable energy and energy-saving topics. Current posts discuss electric vehicles, an energy-efficient building competition, and how to save energy if you live with a "comfort queen."
Additional information about saving money and energy can be found at the company's responsiblebynature.com site as well. I just discovered the site and found the listing of places to buy cheap fluorescent light bulbs helpful.
The company also launched several twitter accounts, including @xcelenergyhelp, which was created to answer customer questions. I've found that it takes far less time to get an answer using a company's customer service twitter account. Xcel is on Facebook too.
