A man from Sauk Rapids, Minn., who was involved in a fatal crash Friday evening near St. Cloud was arrested and could face a charge of criminal vehicular homicide, authorities say.

An initial investigation by the Benton County deputies who responded to the crash at 35th Avenue and 25th Street NE. in Minden Township found that the driver, Jose Fabian, 38, was intoxicated and speeding.

Fabian's vehicle left the road about 6:30 p.m., went airborne and struck a tree. He was wearing a seat belt and suffered noncritical injuries.

His passenger was David Eberle, 42, of St. Cloud. Eberle, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

In another fatal accident, a 16-year-old girl was killed Friday morning when the pickup truck she was driving crashed head-on into another vehicle on a Yellow Medicine County highway near Montevideo, Minn.

Meagan Siemieniewski of Sacred Heart, Minn., was southbound on Hwy. 212 about 11:30 a.m. when her pickup collided with a northbound vehicle pulling an oversized load, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The other driver, a 57-year-old man from Elk River, suffered minor injuries.

Siemieniewski wasn't wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol.
