In an early matchup of ranked teams, the Class 2A, No. 8 Cadets held on for a 3-2 victory over the No. 7 Skippers. Ray Christy scored two goals and added an assist for the visiting Cadets, while Vinny Capezza had 25 saves in the win. Willie Reim opened the scoring for the Cadets in the first period, on assists from Christy and Robbie Stucker. The Skippers' Zach Van Sant tied the game in third period, on an assist from Grant Docter, before Christy's two goals gave the Cadets the lead. T.J. Rogers scored a late goal, assisted by Joe Molenaar, but the Skippers could not complete the comeback. Minnetonka's Matt Muller had 37 saves in the loss.

Girls' hockey

Prior Lake 4, New Prague 0: Brier Hagen stopped 32 shots to lead the Lakers to an upset of the Class 1A, No. 7 Trojans. Claire Hagen had a goal and two assists and Charlotte Huntington had two assists for the Lakers.

Breck 6, Roseau 2: Grace Zumwinkle scored four goals to lead the Class 1A, No. 2 Mustangs over the visiting Rams. Olivia Mobley had one goal and one assist and Nicole Oppenheimer and Emily Zumwinkle had two assists each for the Mustangs.

Edina 4, Warroad 1: Sophie Slattery had two goals and an assist to lead the Class 2A, No. 2 Hornets past the Class 1A, No. 3 Warriors. Lolita Fidler had three assists for the Hornets.

Blake 4, Eastview 0: Lily Delianedis had a goal and three assists to lead the visiting Class 1A, No. 1 Bears past host Class 2A, No. 15 Lightning. Izzy Daniel had a goal and two assists and Sara McClanahan had three assists for the Bears. Blake broke open the game with all four goals in the second period, including one while playing shorthanded and another on the power play.

Hill-Murray 5, Lakeville South 0: Ava Bailey stopped 23 shots to lead the Class 2A, No. 4 Pioneers past the visiting Class 2A, No. 11 Cougars. Abigail Boreen scored two goals and had one assist, Mariah Keopple and Haylee Blinkhorn had a goal and an assist each and Lindsey Featherstone had two assists.

Alexandria 2, Mound Westonka 1: Kristin Trosvig scored a power play goal in the third period to lead the Class 1A, No. 10 Cardinals past the White Hawks. Anna Doherty also scored for the Cardinals. Liz Schepers had the lone goal for the White Hawks, on assists from Tatum Anderson and Ellie Burris.

Girls' basketball

Apple Valley 67, Minnetonka 52: Brynne Rolland led the visiting Eagles to an upset of the Class 4A, No. 10 Skippers. Erin Baxter had 15 points and Lyndsey Robson had 13 for the Eagles. Kayla Mershon and Katey Brattland led the Skippers with 15 points each. Megan Walker had 14 points for the Skippers.

Hopkins 75, Moorhead 52: The Class 4A, No. 1 Royals jumped on top early and cruised past the visiting Spuds in the championship game of the Early Bird Tournament. Paige Bueckers led the Royals with 27 points. Reana Suggs had 12, Dee Dee Winston had 11 and Dlayla Chakolis had 10 for the Royals.

Lakeville North 74, Mounds View 36: Temi Carda scored 20 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 5 Panthers past the Mustangs. Analiese Tschida scored 13 points for the Panthers, and Lauren Jensen added 11. Lindsey Becher led the Mustangs with 10 points.

DeLaSalle 65, Rochester Lourdes 63 (OT): Ayanna Gardner scored 19 points and Kate Graham had 11 to lead the Class 3A, No. 6 Islanders past the host Eagles in overtime.
