Blaine opened the game with a 21-4 run and went on to defeat Coon Rapids 64-44 in the Class 4A, Section 7 boys' basketball semifinals at Forest Lake High School.
Lucas Larson scored 17 points to lead the Bengals (21-7), who didn't allow the Cardinals to get closer than 13 points after taking that 17-point lead.
Jason Kaul scored 11 and Tim Williams and Patrick Perrault each contributed 10 for the balanced Bengals.
Marshall Holland scored 16 to lead the Cardinals (10-18). Blaine and Coon Rapids split two regular-season meetings.
The Bengals will play Cambridge-Isanti at Elk River on Thursday for the section title.
Cambridge-Isanti 77, Duluth East 74 [OT]: Henry Abraham scored 23 points and Luke Malamisuro 22 to help the Bluejackets (16-12), coached by Mike McDonald, outlast the Greyhounds, coached by Mike McDonald's son Rhett, in the other Section 7 semifinal. Isiah Hendrickson and Noah Winesett each scored 23 for the Greyhounds, who led by five at halftime.
Class 3A
Waconia 68, Benilde-St. Margaret's 65: Waconia rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat the Red Knights in the Section 6 semifinals. The Wildcats (18-11) opened the second half with a 12-4 run to take a 40-39 lead. The Red Knights (9-19) got within three points in the final minute. P.J. Hayes scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats, who will play DeLaSalle for the section championship on Thursday.
DeLaSalle 98, Minneapolis Henry 47: The host Islanders raced to a 63-22 halftime lead en route to the Section 6 semifinal victory. Tyrell Terry had 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Jalen Travis had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Islanders (23-5).
