Saturday's college hockey roundup: Michigan Tech wins Ice Breaker

Michigan Tech scored three power-play goals in beating No. 6 Minnesota Duluth 4-3 on Saturday night in the championship game of the Ice Breaker Tournament at Amsoil Arena. Justin Misiak's goal for the Huskies — their lone tally at even strength — broke a 3-all tie at 10 minutes, 14 seconds of the second period. Michigan Tech goalie Patrick Munson stopped 33 shots.

Riley Tufte and Nick Wolff gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead 8½ minutes into the game. And Scott Perunovich's power-play goal for UMD tied the score at 3-all in the third.

Wisconsin 3, Ohio State 2: Will Johnson scored for the No. 12 Badgers in the first period and Cameron Hughes and Tarek Baker in the second for a 3-0 lead. Freddy Gerard and John Wiitala scored for No. 19 Buckeyes in the third period.

St. Cloud State 4, MSU Mankato 0: Jimmy Schuldt's goal in the middle of the first period was the game-winner as the No. 9 Huskies edged the No. 18 Mavericks in the season opener for both teams. SCSU goalie Jeff Smith made 42 saves, and Jason Pawloski had 22 for the home team.

Clarkson 3, Michigan 0: Jake Kielly made 29 saves for the Golden Knights against the visiting Wolverines, who were 0-for-8 on the power play.

Penn State 4, St. Lawrence 1: Denis Smirnov, a sophomore from Moscow, had a goal and two assists to lead the No. 10 Nittany Lions over the host Saints.

Notre Dame 4, Alabama-Huntsville 0: Andrew Oglevie had two goals as the No. 8 Irish swept the visiting Chargers.
