Sarah Hicks will spend June and July in Europe with Sting. The principal conductor of pops and presentations for the Minnesota Orchestra will lead Sting's orchestra for 29 dates as part of his "Symphonicity" world tour.
"It's a sensational show and of course such an extraordinary opportunity to work with Sting," Hicks said in a released statement.
Hicks was assistant conductor before the orchestra named her to succeed Doc Severinsen as pops conductor in 2009. Among her signature programs with the Minnesota Orchestra is "Inside the Classics," in which she and co-host Sam Bergman explain the history and context of music in a more-relaxed concert.
Hicks is also associate conductor of the North Carolina Symphony and has done guest engagements in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. She and her husband, Paul LaFollette, live in Minneapolis.
Sting just concluded a leg of the tour in Chile last week.
