Sapp or Winfield at the corner?

The Vikings cornerbacks both got reps with the top unit during the portion of practice the media was allowed to watch.

As we wrote on Thursday, it appears there is a good chance the Vikings will look to limit cornerback Antoine Winfield's snaps on Sunday against the Giants. Winfield has struggled the past two games because of an injury to his right foot that kept him out for six games.

The Vikings didn't completely tip their hand during Friday's practice, but they did have Benny Sapp open at the left corner with the first team during the portion of practice the media was allowed to watch. Winfield then took over at left corner on the next snap and the following snap featured both players on the field in the nickel.

The most logical way to limit Winfield's snaps but allow him to play would be to have Winfield play the slot in nickel situations and allow Sapp to play at the left corner. We'll have to see what happens on Sunday.

Defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy missed a third consecutive day of practice because of a thumb injury and almost certainly won't play Sunday.
