Santa and Mrs. Claus didn't need a sleigh on Thursday for their special deliveries to St. Paul Children's Hospital, instead opting for a motorcycle and sidecar.

But a special escort from St. Paul police helped them arrive in style for an early holiday visit to young patients there.

At the event, which they have put on for 15 years, police rolled in box after box of donated Christmas presents to brighten the children's day.

"I have been doing this for at least eight years," said Mong Lee, a missing person investigator. It's a "fun event for us every year."

Some patients had the chance to meet with Santa and his elves, and to pet the police horses. Along with the presents, Santa brought plenty of smiles and hugs to children, volunteers and staff alike.
