Scientists have long wondered why a universe as vast as ours contains no obvious signs of life. Is it the great distances that keeps civilization apart? The shortage of perfect solar arrangements that provide warmth, tidal action, protection from cosmic radiation? Or maybe there's plenty of life out there, and they paid one visit, tapped one guy's brain, then looked at each other and said "You know, we can probably skip this rock."
