Saints' Lord throws 3-hitter, but Sioux Falls gets victory

Starter Justin Lord threw a complete-game three-hitter against the Sioux Falls Canaries in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, but the Saints still came up short, losing 3-1.

Travis Kane and Kris Regas combined on a six-hitter for the Canaries.

Kane allowed all six hits, while striking out 10 in 8 1/3 innings as he improved to 6-2. Regas retired the final two hitters to earn his 15th save.

Grant Richardson hit a solo home run for the Canaries.

The teams will close out the first half of the American Association schedule today.

Righthander Dustin Bolton (3-0, 2.04 ERA) will take the mound for the Saints, and the Canaries will start righthander Lenny Bays (1-2, 4.56).
