Ryan Taylor picks his favorites, from Mozart to modern masterpieces

September 30, 2016 at 12:30PM

"Marriage of Figaro" "is perfect. I respond to Mozart differently than I do to almost anyone else."

"Eugene Onegin": "I love what the composer [Tchaikovsky] does."

"Silent Night" and "Pinocchio": "Two of my favorite nights in the theater have been in the Ordway for these. In those cases, with new music, I was swept away in minutes and taken on the most amazing journey."

"Dead Man Walking" [by Jake Heggie] "is another new opera I like."

"Madama Butterfly": "I have a soft spot in my heart for it because it's the best thing I ever did as a singer."

"La Boheme": "I've sung in it like 75 times, and you'd think I would be sick of it, but every time that Puccini man kills me with that show. I can't get tired of that."
