RV-minivan crash caps weekend of fatal accidents

One person died Sunday when a recreational vehicle and a minivan collided at a rural intersection in Sibley County. The Winnebago RV was headed west on County Road 8 and the minivan was northbound on County Road 4 when they collided at 1:48 p.m., the State Patrol said.

Three people were involved, but information about which vehicle the victim was in was not yet available.

It was one of several deadly crashes on Minnesota roads over the past four days that killed six people, four of them motorcyclists.

Late Saturday, Thane Ronsen, 41, of Rosemount, was killed by a car on northbound Interstate 35 in Lakeville after he lost control of his motorcycle and climbed off of it.

Late Friday, Todd Feige, 44, of Elk River, was killed when his cycle struck a deer on Hwy. 25 in Sherburne County.

On Friday afternoon, Kenneth M. Kahle, 23, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., was killed when his motorcycle hit a pickup at the intersection of Washington and 22nd Avenues N. in Minneapolis. Kahle was fleeing a state trooper after a traffic stop on I-94.

Ray J. Timp, 70, of Kasota, Minn., died at 1:20 p.m. Friday when his motorcycle struck a semitrailer truck in Mankato.

Ronsen, Feige and Timp were all wearing helmets, the patrol said. Kahle was not.

Also Friday, Sheila Happe, 47, of Apple Valley, died of injuries suffered Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Hastings that occurred after she apparently ran a red light, the patrol said.
