TORONTO – Injured Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio aimed toward making his preseason debut Sunday at Memphis. He participated in Sunday's light workout, and interim coach Sam Mitchell hopes Rubio can practice fully in live contact Friday and Saturday after the team returns from a three-game Canadian trip that ends Wednesday.

Rubio is not expected to play Monday in Toronto or Wednesday in Ottawa, also against the Raptors, because of a quad strain that kept him out of the team's first two preseason games.

"If he's not going to practice, it wouldn't make sense to play him," Mitchell said.
