Former Mass. governor Mitt Romney, a possible 2012 presidential candidate, is coming to town today to rally Republicans and raise money for Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.
Whilst here, he is also sharing some PAC cash with most -- but not all -- Minnesota Republicans running for congress.
Incumbent U.S. Reps. Michele Bachmann, John Kline and Erik Paulsen all got a nod and $2,500 from Romney's Free and Strong America PAC as did Republican challengers Lee Byberg, Chip Cravaack and Randy Demmer.
Not on the list: Republican challengers Joel Demos and Teresa Collett, who are running against U.S. Reps. Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum, respectively.
Jack Tomczak, campaign manager for Demos, said the campaign is "disappointed" it didn't get Romney's nod -- or his cash -- but Tomczak nevertheless plans to attend the Romney event Monday night.
"We would more welcome that endorsement but we did not actively seek it out," said Todd Henderson of the Collett campaign.
Romney, who was fundraising in Milwaukee during the day Monday, will headline a 6 p.m. Emmer fundraiser at the Sheraton in Bloomington Monday night and then headline a 7 p.m. rally at the Ramada Mall of America.
