Rogers streak ends off the bat of a Hall of Famer, other notes

The Twins got a solid outing from Kyle Gibson as they held off the Angels 5-4 on Tuesday and have won the first two games of this three game series.

Here are three thoughts from LEN3 following the Twins win over the Angels:

ROGERS' STREAK ENDS: If a scoreless streak is going to end, it probably should involve a Hall of Famer. Rogers had thrown 13 scoreless innings before a 3-2 pitch to Albert Pujols was belted 456 feet and well into the bullpens in left-center. Rogers, with a 2.27 ERA, still got his 19th hold, the most holds by a Twins reliever before the All-Star break since J.C. Romero in 2004. As for Pujols, it was the 603rd home run of his career. He's six behind Sammy Sosa for the most by a foreign-born player.

EXPECT DOZIER RETURN: Replacement leadoff hitters have gone 5-for-9 in two games without Brian Dozier in the lineup. But all indications are that Dozier will be back at the top of the Twins batting order Wednesday night when they go for the sweep of the Angels. Dozier said after today's game that he's feeling a lot better. He did text Molitor in the morning and tried to lobby his way back into the lineup, but Molitor was having none of that.

DOUBLE DUTY DAZZLE: Props to radio broadcaster - and former Twin - Dan Gladden. He did his radio duties while serving as the ball boy (ball dude?) down the left field line. The post game notes credit Gladden with one foul ball retrieved, but no one in the press box remembers Gladden doing anything other than standing up and sitting down between half innings. They must be counting the one ball Angels third base coach Ron Roenicke - Gladden's teammate in 1985 with the Giants - threw to him during the game.
